Nazarene Compassionate Ministries

LINC Resource Centre is a "Nazarene Compassionate Ministries" initiative working for Peace, Reconciliation and Social Justice in Northern Ireland. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is the social action arm of the Church of the Nazarene and exists to incarnate the holistic ministry of Christ's compassion to the world, meeting physical, emotional, relational, intellectual, and spiritual needs of people by resourcing, empowering, and enabling a network of individuals to touch their world in Jesus' name.

Nazarenes affirm that evangelism and compassionate ministry are both part of our Christian witness as Nazarenes. In the words of John A. Knight, General Superintendent Emeritus of the Church of the Nazarene, "We need to be people who seek justice, freedom and dignity for all, especially for those who cannot speak for themselves".

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries seeks to build a bridge between a world of hurting humanity and the love and compassion of a healing Saviour.

Northern Ireland Project

The "Northern Ireland Project" of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries was formally established at a meeting held on the 20th October 1992, attended by: Rev. Colin Wood, Rev. John Paton, Rev. Geoff Austin, Rev. Chris Cope, Mrs. Caroline McAfee, Rev. Philip Mc Alister, Rev. Ivan Miles.

The short-term aim of NCM Northern Ireland was "To establish LINC Resource Centre as a recognised and credible Centre for the reintegration of prisoners, other former activists and long-term unemployed persons back into the mainstream of community life and for the development of conflict mediation initiatives and creative alternatives to violence".

LINC has achieved its initial objectives and is now recognised as a credible Centre for the design and delivery of conflict transformation programmes at grass roots level.
