Carrickfergus Transformation Group
Intoduction
The Carrickfergus Community Transformation Group has been established to support local communities in addressing the legacy of the conflict and to develop initiatives aimed at enriching and enhancing life for local people.
Youth and Community
The following youth and community projects are being developed through the Carrickfergus Transformation Group:-
- Carrickfergus Young Citizens Forum
- Summer Intervention Programme for Children and Young People
- Good Morning Senior Citizens (Pilot Programme)
- Neighbourhood Mediation Service
- Rumour Control Network
- Carrickfergus Friends of the Somme Society:- Educational and Commemorative society focused on the 36th (Ulster) Division.
- Bonfire Liaison Group to liaise with statutory bodies and the community on issues around bonfire sites, health & safety, murals, and flag and emblems.
Mediation Training Programme facilitated by the Mediation Resource Centre over the next two years for 18 volunteer mediators:-
- 10 Sessions on Community Mediation
- 10 Sessions on Conflict Transformation
- 10 Sessions on Prejudice Awareness (Sectarianism, Racism etc)
