Culture and Identity
Historical evenings for local residents presented by local historian and author, Roddy Andrews.
Educational field trips for young people to the People's Museum, Somme Heritage Centre and Dan Winter’s Cottage.
July Festival Day planned for 11th July celebrations
The Group will work with the Athletic & Cultural Society to implement its Flags and Emblems Protocol.
Youth and Community
Local residents involved in estate “clean up” and "litter pick-up" and local school children planted bulbs and shrubs to help enhance the area.
Youth Group involved in painting a mural at the underpass in the estate.
Youth Group participated in "Alcohol and Drugs Awareness" training and in an “Employment Skills” course.
Transformation Group members participated in "Child Protection Training"
Womens' Group Programme
First Aid Seminar with St. John’s Ambulance
Food Hygiene workshop delivered by NBC (6 places given for Hygiene Certificates).
Fire Safety Seminar delivered by NIFB. Smoke alarms fitted and home visits by Fire Officers.
Cancer Awareness seminar facilitated by Ulster Cancer Foundation.
Home Security and Personal Protection workshop delivered by PSNI. Alarms and property markers provided.
Beauty Treatment evening provided by Haven Beauty.
Hampers and Fruit Baskets distributed to the elderly and the local church during the Christmas period.
Annual Summer Bus Run for Senior Citizens and the Women’s Group planned for June.
