Empowering Young Loyalists for Active Citizenship and Civic Responsibility

Mission Statement
The Carrickfergus Young Citizens Forum will seek to improve the quality of life for all young people in Carrickfergus, by seeking to identify the common issues, needs and problems that relate to all young people and by seeking to secure the necessary resources to address all identified problems.

Objectives
To secure a "fit for purpose" facility to act as a community resource for all young people in Carrickfergus.

To enable all young people in Carrickfergus to become active and responsible citizens through a process of education and training.

To develop intergenerational relationships in Carrickfergus.

To develop a healthy living initiative for young people in Carrickfergus

Recent Activities
Developed cross border relationships with young citizens from Dublin. Residential and site visits planned for mid-July.

Team building and Leadership Training through both Outdoor Pursuits and Skills Training.

Information Sessions with both the Police Ombudsman and the Chair and Manager of the local District Policing Partnership.

Strategic Planning Sessions and Residential with Liam Mc Anoy, Community Convention & Development Company.

Development plan has been prepared and will form the basis of funding applications for a Development Worker and Programme Activities.

Information Sessions with Sports Consultant, Liam Mc Stravick, and Sports Development Officer, Kyle Ferguson.

Formation of Football Team and regular weekly training sessions.

5 young people participated in the Belfast Marathon.
